We have been working and have almost everything working except for the fast forward the lower gear is not catching onto the main gear any thoughts help ?
Thank you, we have that in the right place now, ty . Now, to the auto reverse which is making noise and not staying engaged . My step son purchased this unit as a repair unit we've replaced all the gears and tape counter belt which I was surprised how deteriorated the belt was it was a paste .lol but it does work otherwise and plays cassettes now.
In regard to auto-stop making noise, double check the black lever is installed inside the plastic slider as shown in picture attached. Ignore the green marking, pic is from a tutorial.
We are back working on wm d3 our fast forward works fine laying flat but if we change its direction on its end it clicks and the drive slips all parts we could have been replaced. And ideas ?
You need to adjust the center gear arm height in this case. This is a common problem, that's why walkman needs to be tested upside down also before drawing the conclusiong it's working. There is a tutorial here: https://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/new-way-to-adjust-wm-dd-ff-rew-gear-skip.8966/
