You need to look at this thread http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/best-repair-services-in-the-world.1336/ Recently a member here Too Cool 4 recommended Galaxy again when someone was asking about repairs. Unfortunately most of the small shops who did TV, VCR and Audio repairs have closed down and the owners retired.
'fraid not. I was being sort of facetious, but with a hint of jealousy that you have such a lovely device, even if one tape drive doesn't work. I just love to look at them and drool.
Mmm...brand new member, no introduction, just asking for information that’s already on the site, over reactions to perfectly ok posts, and aggression towards long standing members... great way to fit in lol
No ones being spiteful lol...I’m just suggesting that your tone isn’t going to get anyone to help you. There are a few of us on here, including me, who repair machines ourselves and often do it for others. I’ve repaired hundreds including 777’s. But I for one wouldn’t do it for someone who has attitude from the outset. Good luck in your search though
We see people like you pop up every now and again...those who see in others what is clear to absolutely everyone else is just a reflection of themselves. You clearly have a few issues you need to work through but here is not the place to do it. Good luck with your repair though.
Hello Northener. Do you have a link to the second part of this thread ? http://www.stereo2go.com/forums/threads/help-me-save-a-poor-abused-777.581/ In the meantime here are mrp32Daves restoration photos. http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/sharp-gf-777e.1003/ That would show people how serious some member here are about repairing boxes. It is always nice to see pictures of GF777s. Believe it or not I still haven't seen one in real life.
Woh that’s a blast from the past...still got that 777. Finished it and it’s all up and running. Wanted new deck doors but never got them. Don’t think I did a follow up thread either lol
steve777, your going to run into the same issues most of the other members have, the number of guys that work on this equipment is getting smaller everyday but the audio hobby is exploding. Most of the equipment needs new capacitors to sound better and units with tape decks need new belts. The techs that do work on this would rather work on a big stereo with more profit than a boombox. While boomboxes may seem like easy work, taking them apart can take a long time and you have to remember where to put all of the tiny screws. A reciever might just have four screws to pop the top and then there's a few boards that come out easily. We'd love to see photos of the unit since it's such an iconic piece of boombox history and few of us own one, I don't think anybody was trying to be malicious, Jorge loves checking out those cool old boxes and can be very helpful if he knows the machine.
Could we do a video series on how to repair boomboxes? Happy to volunteer one of mine as tribute. With the knowledge base rapidly decreasing, and the huge number of models in need of substantial repair, from plastic epoxying, to scratch buffing, to re-chroming, to replacing parts, to soldering wires from dropped or damaged-in-shipment units, I think that would be super helpful for people to try at home. Any thoughts from the pros? Does this already exist?
I've been pushing My Mate Vince Videos for awhile. He has basic skills that have grown alot from practicing and learning from the comments, he'd be my template for any learning videos. Personally I just bought some molding equipment and might be able to contribute some stuff. The old-old forum used to have boundless information but those threads and photos are long gone. All of the stuff you mentioned WheelyPanamax2. I've found some cool articles on archive.org, I can post more in the tech section.
