Nice looking design. Now let's find a manufacturer who's willing to make an 80s quality deck mechanism. Doubtful anyone would.
Yes the 480/490/492 are huge and very loud, decent sound, but the bass isn't very impressive.
Or "Stereo" or "Auto Stop" or "2-Way Speakers" (when one of those speakers is just a cheap piezo tweeter from a talking greeting card)
That Telefunken was worth it, considering that several traditional, low-powered, non-hifi boomboxes were priced at similar amounts, just because...
What's sad is that most of that research was in vain, since most brands lied about their power output, or used different measurement standards...
Cool, how does it sound? Are those real 3-way speakers?
Reminds me of the Japanese boombox sellers on Ebay who list the same item under multiple sellers
Pretty sure that by 1982 all of Telefunken's "boomboxes" became made in Asia. The Hifi Studio 1 was a notable exception, but that's from 1980 I think
Worse than Facebook in what way? If it's because you're getting too many notifications, click on your profile and then "Preferences"

AC only? That's strange, considering its intended use. I would also guess its sound quality was crap compared to what Mister X posted

Yes mine has German labeling [ATTACH] [ATTACH]
I have one of those, and the sound quality is only average. And there are no Sony parts inside, so I think he's lying about "Sony". It is too...
The problem with portable tape players/recorders is that the mechanism quality is very low compared to what was available in the 80s and 90s
drum & bass, you mean Boom Bap?

Welcome to the forum! That Philips is cool

Don't get me wrong, most of them are good, but a couple have small white text on black backgrounds that seems to have become smudgy
Separate names with a comma.
