This thread covers a common problem seen on the AIWA HS-P202 and PC202 and includes all generations.
While the walkman will work fine with a broken clutch retainer, the wow&flutter will increase due to increased friction hence why it is recommended to repair it.

    Here are the steps:
    1. First you need to remove the back cover. It's held on by 3 screws (2 small on the back and one larger near the battery terminal) and clips on the front. Use a plastic tool to unclip the front and pay attention as the EQ, Dolby and DSL button will fall when you remove the cover.
    2. You need to remove the PCB, it's held on with 2 screws, but a third one from the case also needs to be removed. It's the other one near the battery terminal, the one closer to the cassette door. This second one needs to be removed in order to make room for the battery terminals which are part of the PCB.
    3. Pry on the case near the battery connector and pull the PCB up until connector is free. Pay attention there is a spring connecting the chassis ground to the PCB ground. Remove it as well and put it aside.
After the battery terminals are free, you need to release the PCB from the headphone jack. Pay very careful attention as PCB is very thin and can easily break !
    4. Desolder the FWD/REV and motor wires noting where each wire goes. Then desolder the head flex cable.
Pay careful attention as flex cable can break !
    5. Remove the cut washer holding the clutch gear in place while holding one finger over the gear. If the retainer is broken, the gear will tend to spring out, so pay attention.
    6. Disassemble the clutch and thoroughly clean all the grease that is inside.
    7. Add oil or grease to the point of friction indicated on the picture. Assemble the 2 parts of the clutch together.
    8. Add oil or grease to the bottom of the spring and install the spring. Clean any excess lubricant which may be present on the retainer mounting point.
    9. Add super glue inside the retainer as shown in picture and install the retainer back.
