Great headphones from Sony. Sadly they are not 3.5mm jack
Tomorrow part 2 will be MDR-M55

Another hi-fidelity model MDR-60II. The sound is very similar to MDR-51 driver is the same. Anodized aluminum champagne colour.

The drivers on some of those look to be very similar to those on my MDR-605.
Still the best headphones I own and a personal favourite.

I should definitely revisit my younger days!! Nice stands you got there, I hate vacuuming/dusting (all of my plastic model jets are nicely surrounded by spider-webs!) so I keep my collection of hphones bagged... The latest and greatest from Sony got crucified by InnerFidelity, that was odd to read! But the market nowadays is cruel, good old days of Stax and Sonys are gone forever...

Thanks for posting sanchos, that's the last frontier for me. Sure I have Koss, Pioneer and the normal Sony's but I never get to see these TOTL models and have never seen them out in the wild.

At last, the place for me! :)
I am going to buy an MDR-M55 if everything goes right. I used to have some nice stuff as well, now I only have an MDR-62 from the 30mm driver headband series.
So the MDR-605 is better than these oldies? How about the M55? Is it better than the MDR-5 for example?
What about the difference between the MDR-51 and the MDR-M55?
Thanks in advance, I am really happy for this thread! :)

    Nice E484!
I plan to get some too. Here is the E747, one of the last nice buds from Sony.
484-ish, but has an inferior soundstage and reproduction. Still better than most buds recently.

MDR-E464 HI-FI N.U.D.E. Sounds harsher in HF than E484. But with foam is very nice.

The humble SONY MDR-E212. Natural sounding great mid-range.

The Highs is more sweet even with foams. Bass is tight, Mids is spot on. Soundstage is large. I think Sapphire Diafragm is better than Diamond Evaporates one. I prefer 464. I think 464 driver on a 484 body will became best combo ever.

Hey guys, FYI - I recently sold my MDR-E484, MDR-E575 and lastly my MDR-E888 but I kept the MDR-E565 because I have a soft spot for them and I think they sound better than the 575s and 888s (but never above the 484s). . . . I am currently selling another of the great ones of that time - the AIWA HP-V743 (sapphire diaphragm and LC-OFC).
