You could have asked the same question back in the 1980s ? Unless I saw the cassette cheap, i would buy the LP or later the CD then make a copy on tape for the car and Sanyo personal cassette (like lots of people I was too cheap to have an actual Walkman). In the 1990s I did buy a full priced copy of Depeche Mode 101 on cassette for a girlfriend after hearing her tale of woe about how a dodgy deck had completely chewed and destroyed her copy.
