This is probably the wrong section but I couldn't really find a best cassette deck deal thread.
Anyways, here is a lovely Aiwa AD-F880
    Pros:
    - Dirt Cheap for what is otherwise a very good 3 head deck.
    - Comes with remote control
    - Good Cosmetic condition
    Cons:
    - The auction ends in 2 hours

I can see why it has no bids, the styling is not for me and the condition is poor.

You go for this - it's all yours :yahoo
Vintage Hitachi TRK-5190H FM/AM Stereo Cassette Recorder salvationarmywashingtonarc
    US $29.99 Standard $14.76

Me I prefer my Hitachi TRK-8100's that I have yet to get to to service and play with.
I have not bought a boombox in over a year now, except for last week when while searching for prices going for currently I spied a really rare model that I once had and sold with it missing the battery back ... BUT this one has the battery cover and other issues I hope to repair, and if so, I will use it as a photo prop

It might be a dud but it is one of Hitachi's First, circa 1976, it was a whopping 52,800 yen back then, which would have been $477.oo USD or $2100.00 USD in today's money. The mixing controls make it cool along with the odd switches.

You dog! I was trying to find it in one of my computers, I knew I had saved it but haven't been able to find it on ebay for the last few days. These "legacy" boxes are getting really hard to find and the style, weight and sheer coolness of mechanical controls is unbeatable. The colors and the type face just screamed mid 70's, I had to splurge on a very similar JVC after I couldn't find that Hitachi. I hope the Linn Lingo Funds went a little further, I've got a few Technics that might fit in the gap that I could send your way, while not as nice, they do look equally nice in the office or the living room....

    @Mister X keep talking ;)
@Boodokhan stopped by my place a few days ago and unloaded a ton of goodies, then all the Hell broke loose in my Lab! Once out of this present shitstorm it will be another headache on how to follow on my promise to raise $$ by fixing @Boodokhan cassette decks: the price of belts from Marrs Communications is about the price these decks go for on eBay :(
If anyone needs a double-cassette deck restored and calibrated, let me know:confused:

My offer is still open, if you have an oddball size shoot me a PM, I've got a couple thousand belts NOS. I'll never get through all of them but I do need to keep a few of the regular sizes for my stash and it can be hard to size them if they're not in a package... Just keep the craft beer cold and next time I'm out there you can pay me back.

...and beer without Stoli is a waste of a perfectly good product (old Russian proverb!) :)
But old age is taking its toll, nowadays a drop of Brandy does it for me, I can even tell the difference between Hennessy Black and Christian Brothers... I am getting old :(
