After enduring months of talking to scammers on my regional online market place for months, I've finally found a legit listing for a Sony WM-D6C in seemingly very good condition for a great price. You guys were right, with enough patience it's possible to get one.

According to the seller this device was rarely used, but everything looks to be in good condition and as far as I can tell all functions work as intended (didn't try recording yet since I need to get some blank tapes first). Also very grateful for this thread. I knew about the issue with using the wrong power adapter, but wasn't aware that you should also use lower voltage batteries, just to be safe.

The exterior of the Walkman looks really good, is some tenacious dust in some of the corners. I've tried to clean some of it out with rubbing alcohol, but cleaning the buttons and some of the corners is a bit of a challenge. Here are some pictures for reference, though in reality it looks a lot better than on the images. Does anyone have advice on how to get the rest of it off?
Also I didn't touch the dust in the mechanism at all yet and as you can see there is also a tiny spot of oxidation. Though I assume there is little I can do about that.

Other than that one of the rubber feet keeps coming of but that should be easy to glue and I've noticed that the side of the cassette door that's closer to the edge isn't fully flush (by like 0.5-1mm) but I'm assuming that's bound to happen since that's the side you open the door up from.

Any other recommendations on what I should? I'm not sure how confident I would be to open the thing up though.
