Stereo Review 1978. Nakamichi Tapes Scored bigly, 25 years ago they were the highest priced tapes on ebay clocking in around $75 and nearly impossible to find. I always got lucky and was gifted something like the Scotch Highlanders which got a "D" rating. They were cheap and sold everywhere so reletives thought these were great gifts not knowing they sounded like crap.

 

Stereo Review 1978, the Sankyo Micro-Mini is a new one, anybody know if this ever was put into production?

Here's a neat video from Hidisc Japan showing the cassette tape loading process. I used to maintain a few Otari Tape Loaders, we were loading head cleaning media and all those moving parts used air solenoids to move. Over time dust, lube and wear would make them not move perfectly and I was constantly adjusting air pressure or cleaning.

Another video talks about Type II tapes and a little about the development. I've got one of those Sony Switch Boxes he has on the desk for using multiple tape decks, kind of neat it still works as intended 45 years later.

 

Technics had test tapes? I never knew but check out the metal chassis and the big money for each tape.
