Victor RC-X70, heavily promoted by the mega-group Buck Tick! from 1988.

Not to be outdone, Sharp was really pushing the QT Line including this rad looking QT- 73CD from 1988 with 33 blistering watts. I'd love to see one of these up close.

It's really hard to tell how good they are but some of these are over 50,000 yen which should be a premium audio product.

The lovely Brook Burke from 2005, not sure what the boomer is, it looks like the magazine scan messed up.

It looks like a very interesting article from Japan (found on Twitter), from 1980 this reviews a ton of gems from the golden age. There's some great models shown, I need to download a translator for all this great information, check out a very early showing of the UNIX CRS-6000, not to be confused with the Marantz PMS-6000. The factory photos are priceless.

More gems including the Marantz/UNIX 2800. Check out the National RX-5180, the speaker trim has holes in it, the USA Version is just standard chrome trim and not 1/2 as cool as this version. The AIWA CS-M1 also makes a very early showing for a stereo microcassette!
