Digital Cameras seem to be as worthless today as Walkmans were fifteen years ago. I paid £400 for my 3 MPixel Canon Ixus V3 back in 2001. In 2008 I mislaid it during a house move and managed to get a Canon Powershot S40 collect only on eBay for £30. That was a $800 camera when new back in 2001 https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canons40
I love them and will grab the $5 ones that aren't roached out. I hate using my camera phone but don't mind keeping these little ones around. This one was mint and the battery is huge, it's charging now, hopefully it works good.
I had a mini-score at a local garage sale last week, four nice boomers, at least three were nice the other one is in dispute. The first one is my first Sharp GF Model, the Sharp GF-6000 and it's a keeper. One of the first with "The Searcher" Function, this is a heavy-duty box and much bigger than it looks. The little silver plate on the right side is a compartment with a MIC, yep, bring on the karaoke! I still listen to radio everyday, both AM and FM, this might have the best AM tuner I've experienced on a boomer, it pulls everything in with a passion. There is a little static coming from the radio band switch, once I get that cleaned, this thing will sing. Oh yea, this was one where I asked if they had any more boomboxes or Walkmans, it was still in the basement.
Found some NOS Maxell UD 35-90's at a local garage sale, I haven't seen nice RTR tapes in awhile, I do have a box of NOS Scotch Tapes I bought a few years ago but I think these are a bit better and newer.
Part of my haul from the other post above was this luscious J.C. Penny 851-2733 mega monster boombox, part of the "do you have any more" and this came out. So I got this and the GF-6000, which is still doing killer shower-room duty, for $20 USD. This was kind of hideous and generic like most late 80's boomboxes but it did come with "Music for a Lazy Afternoon," a classical cassette tape! J.C. Penny was a department store in the USA with lot's of goodies, we had a few similar stores, SEARS, Wards, and JC Penny were huge in the 70's but kind of fizzled out in the 80's. All of them had boomboxes and portables branded with their name. I cranked this up for the photo and yep, you guessed it, the tape deck still works! I'm playing it right now, in the room next to my office, it actually sounds amazing, even with my just for photo flying V EQ settings. I'm kind of stunned on the clarity, some of the low notes are muddy but I've got those cranked up, the strings sound great. Taiwan Build, not sure who made it, maybe Reli knows?
I went to the first local one of the year on Sunday. The most interesting things there were a Denon cassette. I'm glad that was gone by the time I left or I might have been tempted A very small Techniks (yes that was the spelling) Radio Cassette looking similar to some Aiwa ones. I could have been tempted if the handle was on it A JVC Midi system which was missing an important part of the front panel ! A Fergusson portable CD player for £5. Undoubtedly made by someone else for them. Things relevant to Stereo2Go which I did buy were The TDK CD-R Audio disc is a curiosity. Audio CD burners would only work with these, which the manufacturers had paid a copyright fee to the record companies on. Of course 99.9% of the population used computers and normal CD-Rs. The main reason for buying the 1995 Lightning Seeds CD single was that it had the original price label of £2.99 on the front. That is the equivalent in 2021 money of £6 or £2 a track. After a previous discussion I was curious about how much a single cost, and on a different forum, people showed with examples like that, that is was about the same as a Gallon of Petrol. CDs were obviously even more expensive because in 1995 petrol was £2.31 a gallon in the U.K. Finally the three cassettes were from someone who had about 40 in two cases. He was charging £1.50 each which I think was a bit expensive, justifying it by saying that "cassettes are coming back into fashion". He might be right because he had already sold about about ten by the time I went around the sale again and decided to pick up these.

I was really into him back in the late 1970s, along with Vangelis, and Tomita. I still have Oxygene and Equinox on Vinyl from back then. Then Synthpop, and girl groups like Bananarama came along and I moved onto those. It will be interesting to listen to as I'm not that familiar with JMJ's later work.
He is still making albums but i'm not into those lad, they just sound like anybody could have made them and to me have lost the individuality of his early albums...if i can find my speaker thread i will post up my new speakers, jamo galforce 35 15" with some car subwoofers installed
I never heard about the copyright fees from blank CDs, I know they tossed it around with cassettes back in the 80's but there was a huge backlash. I saw my first garage sale of the year, not so many pop up this early anymore. Usually it's 70 F around here in April but it's been cold and rainy/snowy, we might get 2" of snow tomorrow, the last few years it's been the same, shorter, colder years and less sales.

I had to run across town to grab some auto-parts and hit a few stores on Record Store Day 2022! Usually antique stores don't have much cool audio stuff, this one had a few things. $49 USD for a fake QT, no thanks....
A rare Samsung but it was around $150 USD, wow, that's going to sit for awhile. The good news is No Sleep Til Brooklyn was cranking!
As I type this I'm sat here listening to the Beosystem 10 I bought at the Hamfest Radio Rally for £10. It works perfectly on batteries, but as described has a pulsating type problem at medium volume or above from mains. I will try replacing the capacitors around the PSU. I said I would give an expanded report on the rally so here goes. Due to covid restrictions it was the first one for three years. There were about the usual number of sellers but a distinct lack of buyers. I reckon half the trade was sellers selling to each other. On the HiFi front a few mid range cassette decks from the likes of Denon with prices around £25. I resisted buying a Panasonic RX-E300 for £10 as it was in poor condition and I already have the one I bought new for £240 when it was a current model. Apart from the B&O my other audio purchases worth were: This rather sorry looking Walkman for £2. The same seller had several of the old chunky Sanyos but none of them had any special features like Dolby. Maybe I should have bought one of those as I get the impression this one has been through the wash at some time. This very nice condition but not working Sony 7600G for £4. I have heard radio stations on it but they just drift in and out with the tuning having no effect. If I can fix it that will be a great score as these go for £60 upwards when working. The seller opposite us who we sold quite a few computers to, despite him saying he had spent more than he had taken had some interesting stuff. Chatting to him he showed me one of his purchases saying I was unlikely to have seen one or to see one again. Now we know where Philips got the idea for their N1500 VCR cassettes. We ended raising £220 for club funds so a worthwhile day out. Lets hope it isn't three years to the next one. p.s. Yes that is the Sony I sold on the stall. I paid the same for the B&O. Maybe we should admit that it is really a swap-meet.
I spent a few minutes trying to find any details about it such as a date but the closest I got was Google showing me my own photo. The seller said he had been using it but had decided it was taking up too much room.
google is really amazing now, it seems the robots are instantly scrubbing the website for info because they pop up in search right away.
