Yes, this is a nice thing but would have been better if it had its matching amp with it. The amp is apparently very good and close to a tupe amp quality. I had one a couple of years ago and sold it as it needed repairs but the purchaser told me he collected them and fixed them as they were such a good amp. Now I know the next time I get one to keep it!

I have just been to the local one and bought a Sony Walkman BF49 complete with best before March 2015 Duracell battereies for £2 The radio works and I can hear the tape motor running but there is no movement. Any tips on opening and belt replacement would be appreciated. The only boombox I saw was a Sangyong CD Radio cassette. Hi all, I thought I'd got really lucky at the car boot when I saw this..... Then I picked it up and it was as light as a feather. Then i took it out and had a look....and it was just the shell! A very nice condition shell and a few screws. I paid the guy £1 and took it as I would like to get a whole one some day and this is at least a very mint front and back cover. Not had time to upload for the last few weeks but it's been slim pickings last month anyway. The above find about sums it up well. I was excited when I first saw it though!
Hi all, as I've said here before, there's not been much to buy at the old car boot sale for about six weeks now but got a couple of goodies today. First, an AIWA 990...just got home so not plugged it in yet but I would expect the tape not to work without some new belts first. Was told the radio worked fine so the power should be ok. Next up this beauty. A Sony CRF-320. Nice look to it (if you're into this type), and they seem to go for a ton of money on the Ebay, when one sells. It weighs a lot! Needs a good clean-up tho.

This is what I came home with. The Sony D-E220 was £4 in excellent condition, complete with carry case and Aiwa earbuds. I have I few silver ones like this already but have always been impressed by their skip-free performance (even with ESP turned off). The same seller had a no brand player for £2 which had gone later in the morning. I didn't buy any CDs despite some sellers being down to 25p each. The HP calculator (my first from HP) was just 50p. When I picked it up I was expecting something more like £10. As well as being RPN it is a programmable financial version, hence the unusual key functions.

Thanks Philip, I saw the listing this morning but there was no bid at the time. Will be interested to watch what it ends at! I've now tried it on all four bands and can get it to play something on each. The LW wasn't doing anything but I discovered if I held the LW selector button in a bit it came to life good and strong so maybe a good deoxit would go down well. Was just listening to what appeared to be Nigeria's version of Question Time! Shortwave worked when I touched the right hand aerial. So with a good internal clean (which I would not attempt myself), I would think this could be a full working model. All the dials, lights and red lcd display work fine too. The left hand aerial is seperated from the machine but not broken, rather it looks like it has come unscrewed from it's base which is inside and not easy to rescrew on from outside as it's recessed. Obviously possible somehow but I'm too tired and clumsy to want to take the back off and look today. Some needle nose pliers may do it from the top but then you could scratch the chrome off and bend the aerial at the base which would be visible when you look down at it from above. Brandon, I believe your little reel to reel was part of the Taiwan Wave of inexpensive recorders, I've got a few down in the stacks, I think one is a Starlight, and even though they were reasonably priced at the time they sold, they still hold up pretty well. You can look them up in old issues of Popular Science on Google and find for sale ads for those little gems. The Sony on the other hand is what the hunt is all about, I'd love to find a few of those.
I went to the local monthly car boot sale this morning and bought another £2 Walkman; this time a Sony WM-FX10. Although nothing special in the hierarchy of Walkmans it is in great condition and in full working order. According to Radio Museum it is from 1991 which explains the sombre styling. The real attraction was the MDR-006 Headphones it came with. I bought a pair of these new in the 1980s to go with my Sanyo and found them very comfortable with the metal headband. When they broke the Sony had changed to a bands which I found squashed my ears. The lady selling the WM-FX10 said she didn't know if the tape worked as she didn't have any. She should have gone to the Scope Charity shop which I visited yesterday as they had a small fruit bowl size basket full of cassettes. I picked up the four one shown for £1 each. the "Girl Power" ones are actually a compilation of female artists. At least six of the cassettes in the bowl were Tom Jones, so whoever bought them new was obviously a big fan. None of these purchases were as much of a bargain as the Canon A520 camera I took the photos with. 50p including batteries and a memory card at the car boot sale. As I said to a friend who was there, it is the 2018 version of the disposable camera for taking to the beach etc. The last camera I bought for that purpose lasted quite a few years until broke.
Hi all, I've not updated here for ages but I've just been so busy working and car booting at the weekends. A couple of nice things today so here are some pics. Sanyo M7735L. All working. Sanyo M-S400L. All working and sounds really great, especially for its size. This could be a daily user for me, it's so compact and sounds so good. Such a nice tone playing cassettes. Technics SL-MC7, holds 110 cd's. Wasn't working but was a five minute easy fix, just needed a new rubber band but now works great! Technics and Sony cd players seem to just go on for ever, new rubber band and off they go again! Sharp QT60, not tested yet and will need a damn good clean up! Planetron 8 Track Cassette Player, not tested yet and also very dirty so will clean it up first. Will be surprised if it works but it looks pretty cool. Right now the Sanyo M-S400L is just amazing me, it really sounds very nice to my ears. Another day tomorrow.....car boots will pretty much be ending here in a week or two though so hoping for one more mega good find before the season is over.
That poor little Sharp QT60 is so crusty but the colors are fantastic and it should clean up well Simon. Longman, that HP Calculator is a keeper, I haven't found a nice calculator in years but I used to find one a week in the good ole days.
Some great finds - I got almost the exact sanyo 6-speaker mini from my local boot sale and will never part with it! Wonderful machine
