I always love the look of these decks, some of the first horizontal models from 1973, it's interesting how the cassette deck evolved from here.

Great frequency response, albeit with Dolby (B) noise reduction switched on.

They just list the Model 1000 Specs, I'd love to see the Model 700 side by side since I have one out in the shop. It was working up until a few years ago, looking through the cooling vents there's a million electronic boards inside and I feel like it will take a long evening to replace the belts.

Some of Sanyo's "high end" for 1979, they look interesting but nice Sanyo Decks never showed up around here.

TEAC Model 124 from 1979 with some cool overdubbing features. This must have been fun to play with before the PortaStudio came out.

I'm a huge fan of early 80's JVC Tape Decks, great looking and they last forever, from 1981, the JVC KD-D4

Technics had some great looking decks in the 80's, the M245X was $330 USD back in 1983.

Pioneer radically changed their full product line design in the early 80's. I love the look of this series and have the big amp and one of the gold turntables but I need this deck to complete it, anybody have experience with these? The Pioneer CT-9R from 1982

A neat gem from Sony, the MTL-10 from 1984 holds 10 cassettes! Obviously the writer doesn't know about all the other multi-tape decks that preceded this one. From Rolling Stone Magazine.

@Mister X: I had the Pioneer CT-9R deck. I wanted to replicate all of the Pioneer Communication series of components in one system. I wasn't successful in finding a good A-9 amplifier. However, I sold the deck to someone who already had all the components, except for a properly-functioning CT-9R deck. My ex-brother-in-law is the only one I know who has the complete system, he bought new in the early-80's. And his A-9 amplifier needs to be repaired for the second time.

I did keep the NOS Pioneer JT-216 wired remote control.

You have to look for a CT-9R which has the RYM-154 tape transport, as Pioneer had many reliability issues with earlier transports which failed mechanically.

I've got one of the big amps and maybe a PL-3000 Turntable but nothing else. I passed by another amp and a few tape decks over the years for cheap but now I'm kicking myself since they don't turn up as often especially the CT-9R. The full stack design aged well over the years.

Rising is more known for boomboxes on this forum, I don't think they sent much audio component equipment over here and I'll never understand why the cassiever wasn't much more popular. From 1980.
