Memorex dBS from 1987, with amazingly iconic colors, I'm pretty sure this was copied by every discount tape maker.

TDK SA-X from 1988, big two page ad with an artsy feel to it.

I've never seen this version before, Maxell 1988 with a boombox! A huge two page spread, I think cassettes were king once everyone started getting CD players. They were still way out of my budget and CD's were expensive but you always had a friend with a CD player and tape deck......

What's not to like, boomboxes and skateboards and a tape that goes a little longer, the TKD SA 100 from 1989

Some cool Japanese Magazines were dumped on archive.org, here's an ad for Sony CDix Tapes from 1991 with Princess Princess in the ad! Check out all of the lengths, anybody know why they did that?

maxell UD's with The Rhythm Red Band from 1991, 46 minutes, is that just a hair longer than a CD? The packaging on these is amazing, I never remember anything but a few hanging on a wall with maybe some boxes on the bottom shelf. I bet these guys had full departments of only tapes.

I can't read it but it talks about the tape...

My Japanese Buddy tells me they're really into bands and the whole show, check out the heavy metal bands from the 90's. Last time I was there I saw similar magazines for sale, it's all about the look!

^ I have the same Denon HD8 in 75-minute version. I suppose, it was designed for, um, a shiny digital source.
