The Metal ES '88 is a real sleeper cassette and I'm always on the lookout for more. I usually just record albums via Foobar>Audio-GD dac/amp>Nakamichi Dragon/CR4E.
At least one review (attached) gave the ES a higher score over the MM back in the day.

The Marantz in the corner is actually my very first amp that my parents bought me in 1985. PM151, a basic amp that served its' purpose admirably for about 10 years before upgrading. Doesn't work anymore due to swollen caps but it's on the to-do list to repair....

I'm on the lookout for some decent mics to plug into my TCD5M so I can do some bootlegging with different tapes at some point. Move over Mike Millard! :D

I've got a few period correct mics, a lot of times they are in very good condition but I've got an AIWA that had some of the magic rubber goo, what a mess. Sony had a popular line of MIC mixers that would match the D5, just check out the catalog pages.

Don't worry about double posting, almost everything on here has been posted before, sometimes I'll do a google search, it will include the "forum reader" and 1/2 my topics have already been discussed years ago.

I love those UCX-S 81 era. Recorded some early Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry to them and sound tip top.
    :thumbsup2:

Mr X. Never heard of Tracs tape before. Have never seen these tapes for sale over here in the U.K.. Were they available in type 1,2 and 4.

That's the first ad I've seen for them but the parent company, AudioMagnetics, was huge into tape media production. They must have been for a specific market "the portable recorder tape" but didn't get too popular. If I had to guess 3M Scotch was more dominate with their crappy entry-level tapes. Since 3M made everything, I'm sure they had a ton more distribution.
