This is interesting, anybody have one of these TDK Magnetic Necklaces from 1978?

Wow, TDK were into jewelry?
Glad they still exist unlike many others (just changed field) and have the same old good Logo!

    Me neither. Thanks for sharing.
My pal is wondering what it has to do with cobalt, the tape?

Yes the tape has cobalt in the metal mixture, I think most tapes have varying degrees of cobalt in them but when it was new they marketed the names intensely, it gave it that high-tech sound.

Yes TDK are still around. One of the things they make are inductors. Guess what inductors use as a core; Ferrite.
With the rise of switch-mode power supplies to improve energy efficiency, that is a market that has increased significantly over the years.

My contribution is a late '80s Maxell Metal Vertex advert.
These two pages come from a six pager, thought you all
would enjoy seeing the 2nd page word-speak.

It's interesting to read what what the added marketing was, as a young kid I knew the good mid-grade tapes and stuck to those. I have a feeling the Metal Vertex was pretty expensive and why isn't it called Vortex, what's a Vertex?

    vertex
    /ˈvəːtɛks/

    noun
    1. 1.
the highest point; the top or apex.

Given that it was top of the range that makes sense.

I'm surprised this thread is getting a lot of looks but when you think about it, people had a lot of money tied up in tapes. Cassettes were also very dynamic, new formlations, better shells, and a ton of competition. Feel free to contribute anything tape related.
TDK C120SD from 1972. I rarely come across any manufacturer's 120's, I feel like they had a bad reputation from the begining.
