Not sure if I posted on an earlier thread but my techie friend made a test rig patched into a junk DDII bought for parts. We used the CX20084 from that to repair a D6C but the test rig is very useful to test IC's that claim to be compatible with the CX20084. My strip of 6 referred to earlier work so there were some around several years ago that are compatible with the genuine ones. Otherwise your best option is to buy a junk DDII as a donor but these are rare too. It's another reason I prefer the D6 to the D6C. Sure you've got hybrid modules that can and do fail causing the speed to accelerate but at least these modules can be disassembled and a dud transistor replaced on them. Can't do that with the CX20084 dedicated IC unfortunately.
Two eBay sellers located in China are claiming to have the genuine Sony chip, I messaged both and they claimed to have the genuine Sony one if they are telling the truth, The price however is steep, After taxes and shipping it's over $100: https://www.ebay.com/itm/278354855832 https://www.ebay.com/itm/168672893144
Well not sure I'd be throwing a $100 into the wind to find out but I doubt they're genuine. It's not like they're generics used in many different PCB's to justify getting a replacement scoped, manufactured and released to a potentially large market. If you could return it if it failed in an external test rig then may be worth checking out.
Update. Check the feedback on the Polida listing of the CX20084 and a few complaints about other chips being fake. One buyer was offered $2 back when putting up negative feedback. Buyer Beware!
I used your Gerber zip folder and dropped it into PCBway and it looks like I can make the first order for $34, I just need someone to check if I entered all the parameters correctly, It looks too good to be true but I'm pretty sure I'm missing something:
Please advise, PCBWay came back with out of stock notice, can anyone look at the attached picture and tell me what is the best replacement? Still waiting on LeKos input as he is the designer of the PCB.
