First, I'd take both if they were garage sale scores, but what's the deal with all of the distortion? At that price and time you'd think they would have made it sound much better. No wonder nobody questioned the loudness wars, the crappy loud sound was being born with these late 80's units.
Nice, a very large cardboard boombox.... https://www.partycity.com/boom-box-standee-850494.html?cgid=decorations-life-size-cutouts
Some of these old 8-track players are arm-busters, this looks like a pretty cool unit and it's fun to pull out those old cartridges and watch everyone's eyes roll. https://www.ebay.com/itm/vintage-PA...m=293078974154&_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985
Somebody grab this before I do, I'm sooo close. You rarely see an old portable reel to reel with stereo, not only that but this is really cool looking and one of my favorite brands, AIWA. https://www.etsy.com/listing/663401...y=reel+to+reel+tape&ref=sr_gallery-1-21&cns=1
It's cute and would compliment the boombox shelf nicely. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vtg-HITACH...m=303104248730&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
Nice grab speedy2.0, post some info when you have it up and running, it looks super cool and I'm jealous, locally I just nabbed an early 60's AIWA Portable Turntable/Radio, it also has the cool looking, just sitting on the table look, and it's a true boombox with handle and batteries.
I've been pretty busy and not catching all of the cool stuff but here's a neat old JVC emailer. If I had to guess I'd say around 2002, subscribe to a service and voila, instant email. This was pretty cool back then when everything was new and fresh, I'm not sure if it works now but is sure brings back memories of the early internet. https://www.ebay.com/itm/JVC-Portab...272444?hash=item2cead339bc:g:FpoAAOSwvX5c3O-F
It might be a dud but I can't tell, it looks like a pretty cool mini that I've never seen before. Shipping to me stinks but if your closer this is a rare find and hopefully, higher build quality than most. Sony CFS-2000L https://www.ebay.com/itm/Boombox-SO...S-Stereo-Radio-cassette-recorder/183814581855
Another cool sign, I'm really close to pulling the trigger on this one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Miller-Gen...qQAAOSwkulc3aX7:sc:USPSPriority!55042!US!-100
The Sony WM-EQ3, I have no idea what this is, it looks like Japanese Market only and it's very odd looking. https://www.ebay.com/itm/SONY-WM-EQ...804781?hash=item592b4189ed:g:qzsAAOSw4OJc336G
I'm only posting this since it's ultra rare and one I've been lusting after for years. I've never seen one up for sale before but it's a little over my budget. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Akai-6-Mat...707792?hash=item2f2c0ffb50:g:IM8AAOSwflBbwG0f
As far as I know Braun never made a boombox or portable cassette player but I found this really cool multi-band radio. I love the looks of everything they made and time has proven they are valued highly by other portable radio enthusiasts. This thing is so nice looking and would look great on any boombox shelf. Check out the connections on the front and what is the antenna tuning knob for? https://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAUN-STAT...hash=item56c48408da:m:mR57zFVifK2bwo7zbYep5Rw
It saves you from having to add one of these: http://www.zen22142.zen.co.uk/Circuits/rf/atu.htm And certainly marks the set as a top of the range, no expense spared, unit. I'm not sure whether this would appeal more to a SW receiver collector (there are quite a few out there) or someone who likes the classic and unmistakable, Braun styling. I did a bit more research and the design is as old as me, but deemed worthy of being a museum piece. https://braundesigns.wordpress.com/2009/03/01/t-1000-radio/
Thanks for the link Longman! I thought early 70's but yea, it's a bit older. These portable shortwaves are just a sub-genre of boomboxes for me, it would be nice to have a thread or two with them featured. I've got a few old Zenith Transatlantic and some other random "boat anchors" sitting around. Some of these really made the tuning dial stand out and are very nice looking, I have to believe they laid the ground work for future boombox design.
Another non cassette item, but this TV looks as if it is straight from the set of Star Trek or Space 1999. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VERY-RAR...CE-AGE-ITALY/223470490260?hash=item3407e11294 also two more normal TV Radio Cassette that aren't one of the usual Sharps https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Retro-HI...m5b577f759c:g:sKgAAOSwLVNc-wVm&frcectupt=true https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-...361650?hash=item546fa55f32:g:qkwAAOSwsndc3Blr
One of the rarest, yep it's over in Russia. I'd love to see what the world-wide free market value is on this one but it's pretty cool, I like to divide the crazy numbers by 10 but this one is super-ultra rare. I don't know if anybody has every owned this model and posted it here before, the Onkyo M-01! https://www.ebay.com/itm/ONKYO-M-01...921290?hash=item364af6c90a:g:KXoAAOSwNphb2unc
Now that looks like a classic mini indeed. a real shame the lcd looks farked up on her rendering her out of my interestm both that and the price
It's sad when the only one that's popped up in years looks like it fell off the table. I love the huge walkman look in the brown leather case.
