    Kenwood Boomboxes are few and far between, I have no idea how nice this is but it sure looks like some older Toshibas, the Kenwood CR-100

    So I just posted the Kenwood, and under the bottom suggestions the Interfunk IF 2364 showed up, check this out! So rare there's no entry in the Wikiboombox! Or maybe it's also a ITT?

    Just killing some time and I found this beauty from Germany, the Rubin Deluxe, another rare brand with no wikiboombox entry but it's really nice looking, I love the piano keys spread across for the other buttons and the military-70's vibe it has going.

    This is more of a clone thread, the Magnavox Escort 2 from 1985, pretty much a knock-off of the Sony Watchman FD-20A. Actually it looks like it really is a Sony. So with 7-degrees of separation, Philips owned Magnavox at this point, Philips and Sony had released the highly successful CD player a few years earlier and had some common interests. My Sony is dated 1984 and in the world of portable TVs that was a long time with rapid development from everyone. Maybe Philips bought up some old stock and rebranded it, they are identical except for the branding, the speaker grill and the Magnavox doesn't have a "VIDEO IN" jack like the Sony. The VIDEO IN is really cool and very rare for portable TVs.

    I had one of these AKAI's shipped to me by accident from Japan and love it, a beefy little micro-stereo. Sure it's a little expensive but if your looking for a nice shop or desk stereo this will get the job done and look cool, I'm not positive but good luck trying to find those speakers again. If you like LEDs this has a lot of them. It's much smaller than the photo looks, the components are around 12" (30 cm) across

    The fact that it is Made in Japan is another clue. Even the mains adaptor has the same green label that Sony use.
    As you say there must have been some kind of link up especially as the Magnavox Escort 4 looks like another Sony.

    The only other possibility I can think is that the Sonys weren't actually made by them and the same manufacturer supplied both Sony and Magnavox.

    Great find, I'll have to look into the Magnavox "Escort." I've never seen it before but I do have another very special Magnavox (made in Japan) Unit hopefully coming soon, something extremely rare. That VHS machine is really cool, I wonder who the manufacturer was, I do have a Sony VHS Machine, it's one of their TOTL for hospital use so they did make them although your's looks like it's a few years earlier.

    By 1988 Sony had given up on Betamax here in the UK and switched to VHS, so there were lots of Sony VHS home machines after that. The first ones were rebadged Hitachis. The last new Batamax model released here was in 1986 although they continued to sell new machines in places like Sony Centres until the early 1990s. I remember my boss buying one to replace his existing Betamax. I don't think they ever made a VHS portable though.

    Sony and partner companies invented Video 8 to cover that market. You could even get Video 8 home decks - I knew someone who had one of those - although with the limited tape time I think they were aimed at Home Movie enthusiasts, rather than someone who wanted to tape 3 hour long movies or rent them from a Video shop.

    One of the final nails in Betamaxs coffin here in the UK was popular comedian Lenny Henry with a joke.
    "If burglers come in your house the first thing they steal is always the VCR. Well no one is ever going to steal my VCR. I was smart and bought a Betamax. No one is ever going to steal that".

    That pretty much summed up the situation in the UK in the late 1980s. At an electronics sale I recall seeing a Betamax for sale "Star Wars tape £10. Free Betamax VCR".

    Thirty years on I quite fancy getting a Betamax machine. Someone on a different forum pointed out that used Beta cassettes are far more likely to contain 1980s TV programmes than VHS, which everyone was still using until the end of the 20th Century.

    Oh man, I love finding non-entries in the wikiboombox, by the way, one of the greatest resources for the hobby going.

    One of my favorites, the Sanyo M-S300K and look at the awesome color, I'd be all over this one if I didn't have one already, but this model is really nice, small and pretty cool looking.

    I presume you will get someone to swap the transformer over.

    The bag does look to be about the right size.
    It definitely looks to be a genuine Panasonic product. No mistaking the make as it has the Panasonic logo in white lettering across half the length of the bag with
    Pink, Yellow and Green artwork like brush strokes and circles around it. The fabric is black with yellow piping around the edges. Definitely a product of the 1990s which of course was when the Panasonic boxes were the latest and greatest thing

    I hope that makes sense to you.

    p.s I only noticed the bag when browsing Panasonic boomboxes after seeing your new one. A shame that so few have Line In.

    I should be able to do the transformer Longman done m90's 777's in the past, it is normally just a case of plug and play....i think the dt9 has line in but i dont have a phone etc im sure the bag is genuine even if not that is fine fella, wish i could get bags made for my m90's lad
