Found it Almost £1000 when adjusted for inflation, and that didn't include the optional stereo decoder.
I found this Russian Website with some really early Crowns, they really had some robust designs, the CRC-9100F looks interesting, anybody own one? I'm also eyeing up the Crown STP-80W further down the page, the portable turntable, it looks kind of artsy, I'll have to find more info on it. https://www.drive2.ru/c/560201450303521087/
Retro used to post a ton of cool ads, just when I thought I posted something new I find he did it 12 years ago.... Check out this cool ad for a Crown Suitcase Recorder, Model CTW-8650. I can personally say this thing is super cool, mine recently showed up! These were definately for the James Bond Spy Crowd. The cases are very nice, push buttons are so much better than the common USA slide latches but they don't lock. I also picked up another goodie on this page, as soon as I find a cord and test it I'll post it.
I found this on ebay, a cool book on Crown Transistor Radios, wow are they beautiful. A few more pages are posted in the ad. https://www.ebay.com/itm/283477223068?
Check this one out on ebay right now! Crown CSC-610S, the meter and knobs look maybe 75-76? No FM band, didn't they have that in Egypt? Overall it has those cool speaker vents but it looks slightly smaller then a midi and bigger than a mini. This seller always has cool boombox and stuff for sale, I might have to grab that Bombeat with no bids yet. https://www.ebay.com/itm/364327084545?
Arrived Yesterday! Am so happy with it - all working just needs a service & it will be like new!! Due to the stupid way you have to upload 1 image at a time, here's a link to my Onedrive where the images are Hi-Res & at their best! I love this model & cannot believe the condition of it.....Not even cleaned up yet either!! https://1drv.ms/f/s!AtEYKw-3GKK-hKoTnXd4Ldw1yoIGfg
I thought you loved the roached out models? You should see the boomer I got last week, it looks like they found it in a dirt pile but I think it might actually clean up and another roached out one just came up for sale near me and it's the same model.....
Anybody have one of these beauties? From 1963, the Crown SPH-100, I've said it before.....This is the 1st boombox!!!!
From 1964, Techmoan did a review on a R2R that also played records, I can't remember what brand it was......
