An ad for some Crown Products from 1972 including the cassette speaker system.

Since I have a few Crown Suitcases sitting next to me I'm going post this oddball with R2R from 1976 which is a pretty late entry for this size, pricing might be Dutch Guilders and it looks expensive.

Deech posted some great stuff in the Forum Reader (from the old days of the forum that couldn't be merged with this one)

I got a new piece a few months back, here's the first clue! This has auto repeat! Kind of funky, you press the button after your selection and it goes back and replays it.

Since I made that video years ago, I've been learning how to repair and then I've been repairing a lot of radio since then and I'm going to read through the rest of the thread from here and see if I can't see the crown that I have that I haven't seen yet that I have and I'll post a picture of it when I get to that if I don't see it in this thread.

Yes, the antenna is missing the last section with the tip.

This is the business end or the input side.

That's the top view of all your controls.

And there's the front of it. Yes everything works but the controls need deoxit so I'm going to do that next real quickly. No, I don't know how long I've had this but I've had it quite some time. I know that.

Ever. See a double recording bar switch before there's one inside of this one. Let me show you.
    17193295340613543632081828911173.jpg
And it has a new drive belt and all the switches and contacts and potentiometers have been deoxided and now I'm going to put it back together and play it. This takes 8D batteries by the way.

I think I posted that box here or down in the mega sale thread, definately rare, at least in the USA. I love mid-70's styling and this one has all the killer design cues.

From 1987, oddly the prizes are from Pioneer and Casio?

Crown from 1987, now I'm wondering if Crown built Pioneer's later offerings

This brochure is for sale over on Ebay, first time I've seen a Crown Mini-System, 13 watts a channel, not bad. It kind of looks like a Sanyo, not too flashy.

Not a boombox. This doesn't use batteries if you read the specifications closely like I did.

No it's a mini-stereo that looks very similar to the Sanyo System 8 Mini Stereo. Crown had wild range of equipment back then, this is the first mini-stereo I've seen.

It may be portable but it doesn't take batteries is my point.

When you said it's like a sanyo, i went and searched YouTube, found a guy with one, and the deck is like in the Sanyo C7, Same buttons, and makes the same clunky noises as the sanyo. shame it doesn't have a handle so you could pretend it was portable and move it around the house and take it outside. bit like the Sony FH series.

Does anyone know the quality of this unit?
It’s still brand new in the box and I have thought of purchasing just to play my CDs?

I've been eyeing those up over here, they don't go for a ton of money but they have the square body I tend to like. There should be ads for them in the newspaper ad thread.

Yes have to admit that I like the shape too. But they are an unknown brand here.
But just really wondering about the quality of the whole unit if it’s worth buying. Brand new still in the box and has been tested.
It’s on a site here in NZ called
    TradeMe

    Cheers Kiwinut

I think there's another AKA version, I can't remember but I posted it somewhere. If I had to guess, it was postioned at a lower price point then the better Sony/AIWA/Technics Players from the first wave. More plastic, larger case and radio. They are nice looking in photos.

The Crown CD-10 is the cool one, it looks like the Sony Sawblade Model.
