    The Reel to reel in the background suggests this was in someone's studio.

    Sony PCM-F1s were used for some early DDD CDs and for transferring master data to the CD manufacturers.
    Both the VCR at the top and the PCM unit below it can run on batteries.
    The unit at the bottom is a Tuner Timer which I think can also charge the units.

    I was just reading up on Hard Drives and in 1980 a 1GByte Hard Drive was the size of a refrigerator, weighed 1000lb (455Kg)
    and cost $81000 (not inflation adjusted). I wonder if CDs were initially mastered "on the fly" or if they actually had a disc
    like that somewhere in the chain.

    I love those Sony's just because they nailed early 80's design. The price on that one seems like a bargain, I feel like the handful I've seen over the years don't have the tuner.

    The early days of MP3s were a lot of fun and tons of technology, I think everyone had a copy of Winamp back then. From Rolling Stone 1999, the kid got around $59 million for his share. AOL was still big and bad back then but fizzled out shortly after this.

    A little off topic, the Motorola Skytel from 1999, a pager with duplex operation, the early version of texting. My first textable phone was a Blueberry around 2004. I wonder who owns the copyright for Skytel?

    Yahoo had a paper magazine back in the early days, found on archive.org
    Some interesting MP3 Players from 2000, did the Sony Walkman (MP3) ever get made? Check out Oracles CD Player, $9000 USD, I wonder how many they made? Remember when everyone was saying old Playstations had the best DACs?
