I started with the straddle as well but i was trained to do the Fosbury flop, i think i went from about 1.6M to my 1.96M by changing to Fosbury flop. Dick Fosbury revolutionised high jumping. I was also a sprinter and a cross-country runner, i know those events did not mix but i was able to do all of them. I hated cross-country but i ran for the school.
You must have been a bit after me. The Fosbury flop had only just been invented by him in 1970 and there were no pits near me but , when there was, I tried it. It was much better and I am sure I might have made 7 ft with it. I hated cross country also. I was really a ball player and cricket was my favourite sport which I played until I was 48 at a good competitive level. Nice to reminisce ,Can I just wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and to all the otherStereo2Go members as well.
I was only 2 years old in October 1970. Yes a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too. I wish all Stereo2go members a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
