Today is Cliff Richard's 80th birthday. He has been having hit records since 1958 starting off as the British answer to Elvis.

On the local Radio station here they had a poll for listeners to decide their favourite Cliff song and the winner was "Wired for Sound"

Was this the only hit record written about personal stereos which were still the latest and greatest gadget back in 1981 when this was released.

No prizes for spotting the personal stereo type. You might get bonus points for working out the make of car.

p.s Slightly off topic the video was made in Milton Keynes shopping centre. We spent months at school studying Milton Keynes which was a new town
designed from scratch by architects during the 1970s.

Back from when trevor Horn thought Videotheques would replace Discotheques.

I do recall seeing the Video for Michael Jackson's Thriller for the first time on a screen like these at Papillion.
People didn't know whether to dance or watch the video

This video sums up the state of the entertainment industry at the moment.

Yes, the song is almost a copy of Alcazar, who in turn used lots of samples from Sheila B Devotion - Spacer.
I saw Sophie a few years ago at the Bournemouth International Centre when she was the support act for the Pet Shop Boys.

Great song Daniela, I remember when that premiered on MTV over here as a kid, they went a little different direction with their music on that album. Our US Video Version was the future with the guy walking around and it was long. MTV edited it and the original premiere version was NEVER shown again for daily rotation. Luckily a few years ago I got to see YES with Trever Rabin and Jon Anderson and they still sounded wonderful.

C + C Music Factory - Just a touch of love (In Sister Act film)

Bit of a cheesy film but I remember seeing the film in the cinema back in 1992. I remember when they were cleaning up the neighbourhood and the track Just a touch of love but C + C Music Factory came on, I was dancing away in my chair people in the cinema must have thought I was mad. upload_2020-11-20_17-38-10.gif

Smooth Radio (which I sometimes switch to when Wave 105 is playing "new music" incidently like the dreadful advert that followed this) has a limited playlist but have recently started playing this

I bought the original on 7" vinyl back in 1988 when it came out but don't remember seeing the video before.

    DX style Piano -
Girl with Big Hair and lots of eye liner -
Dude with long hair an moustache riding Motorbike
Great melody (even if they copied it)

You don't get much more 1980s than this and I've had it on my brain for the last two days :boogie:

Our local public station 89.3 The Current https://www.thecurrent.org/ was playing three piece bands last night listening by the fire pit but no TRIUMPH, so let's kick one out, yep, I got this on cassette from back then. Triumph was huge for a few years but fizzled out in the late 80's, too bad they helped put melodic metal on the map.

Thanks Papa! I just watched the following concert video, it was the first big concert I went to, although our little hockey rink only fit 5000-6500 it was great. I really remember the laser head talking at the beginning, it was one of the coolest things I had seen. Laser's disappeared shortly after that when they started blinding fans. Dio's show might have been the best with the giant metal robots fighting on the stage. Here's Triumph Live in Halifax, they did a ton of touring in 86-88 before it all ended, this looks like it's from a professional production.

I was cranking my M60 this morning and this classic came on, maybe the greatest heavy metal song of all time? I need something bigger and louder!

Another one for the metal fans. 48 years after it came out this still makes me smile with the "Wall of Sound"

Moving on a decade, we watched Music and Lyrics last weekend which includes this classic :wink2

Funny how they managed to get so managed to get so many 1980s clichés into one video
