9/1/89 Dr Feelgood! One of the last great hair metal heavy albums, yea everyone else in hair metal (Def Leppard) was going "pop tart," the Crue came out with this gut cruncher. The previous GGG was ok but it looked like the Crue was fizzling out, it's surpising none died or stayed dead. I remember when this hit, Tuesday Afternoon, I was in my delivery van and the DJ pulled the album and laughed at a sticker on the jacket, it said something like "This will be the biggest album of the year" and he started laughing. Then the thundering drums kicked in......

 

9/3/84 Maiden Powerslave, a classic but mostly non-played by corporate radio. We had a killer high school radio station that had this in heavy rotation right around lunch time and with my trusty homemade boombox I had it at 10.
