I'm primarily here to get info on a Walkman I've essentially inherited, trying to figure out if it's worth repairing (WM-D3 externally in mint condition, but it had an alkaline battery left in it that leaked and corroded some things on the board.) It actually turns on and functions in some respects, but clearly needs a thorough overhall to be back to 100%
Welcome to the forum. Yes battery corrosion can be the kiss of death, hopefully it's only in the compartment.
