Hey everyone! Greetings from the Okanagan Valley in beautiful British Columbia, Canada! I'm a lifelong tinkerer, electronics enthusiast, and apparently a professional rescuer of things other people have decided are junk. I've always loved taking things apart, figuring out how they work, fixing them, and occasionally even getting them back together with no mysterious leftover screws! I frequent thrift stores and have a terrible habit of pulling over whenever I see a "FREE" sign. You never know what treasures people are throwing away! My latest adventure involved discovering a rather interesting pair of vintage Japanese Futura headphones. Trying to learn more about them led me down the vintage audio rabbit hole, and eventually here. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone, sharing some of my strange discoveries, and hopefully contributing a little technical knowledge along the way. After all, one man's trash is another man's vintage audio collection! Cheers from Canada! DarthVintager Impedance is futile. Rescuing forgotten electronics from a galaxy far, far away... and occasionally the local thrift store.
Welcome to the forum! I love scrounging around, I did it more years ago when I had more time and space but I still get very lucky. A couple weeks ago I scored a very desireable Rockwell-Delta Standing Drill Press along with a huge Montgomery Wards big metal disc sander and a very cool 1950's "industrial" Allsteel File Cabinet, all for free. I tend to score more since I'm driving trucks all day and can fit big stuff easily. And there's the pile of audio around here.... It reminds me of a very old member, Billy the Binman, I think he was a trash truck driver and was finding cool stuff all the time, I'd post one of his photos but we're updating the server right now. Anybody know what happened to Billy?
