    Greetings to all!
I am a longtime music & gearhound and just recently came across this group oddly enough when I was watching a vid on YouTube from “Mend It Mark”, a chap in the UK who repairs all sorts of audio related gear.

Anyway, it got me thinking, would he be willing to take on my JVC CQ-F2K cassette Walkman that I bought new with my lawn cutting money back in 77-78 (?), but as one might expect after 4+ decades is in need of some R&R!

So, I did a Google search for a pic, just to make sure I was remembering the model number correctly and the top result was a link to member Valentin’s repair thread from 2021!

I have repaired vintage home gear in the past, and am a member of “Audiokarma” , but I have NO business mucking about the insides of a portable, even with the right-sized tools! lol

It is my hope that I will be able to find a technician of the caliber of Valentin (who resides in Romania if ya didn’t know!) a bit closer to home!

And of course, meet new friends & other like-minded folks!

Welcome to the forum! I love watching all the YouTube Videos, the way it's changed the repair world might never be fully understood. Good luck with your repairs, some of these can be very difficult to get to the little parts.

I picked up a JVC a few weeks ago and put it on the shelf, it's a CQ-1K and it's so nice. Yours looks like the radio version and was released in 1982, the first stereo Walkman was released in late 79 so your off by a few years. JVC Portables are kind of hard to find and all of them are precision instruments, no plastic fantastic junk. I always though Toshiba patented the "radio cassette cartridge" so seeing it on other units is interesting.

A lot of us started by reading this website and then the owner started this forum way back in the early 2000's. It's been through a few different hosting services so the old threads are very difficult to find.
