Big money but still good looking.

From 1973, this looks like it's the non-cassette version? What's the top box for?

Yes, it's a tape ad but I though it would fit better here. I wonder why more tape/player makers didn't do this type of co-branding? I love these mid-level Hitachi's, kind of normal looking but usually very solid builds and under the radar.
    Hitachi from 1982

1986, Hitachi CP-55R, what is the headphone jack box for? It looks like it converts to RCA cables?

It looks big but it's hard to tell. I'd guess late 70's? I'm a big fan of the mono boomers and as we get older, they don't seem to be seen as much as the "normal" boomboxes do.

Hitachi CAP from 1985, it this the smallest portable? I know it was in the running. I'm trying to figure out how the radio pack plugs in, it shows that down arrow, it must need that for power?

L0-D from 1989.11 According to the poster, most are just AKA's or made in Korea. I do kind of like the squarer models.
From tas66dc: The CX-55W is an OEM of the Panasonic "RX-DT70D," and the list price is the same. CX-CD1, CD2, and CD3 are Korean ODMs. CD4A is an OEM of the Sanyo "PH-CD500U." Only the CD5A is an in-house development by Hitachi.
