I use this thing all the time, ever since I got it brand new a million years ago - but really only radio or line-in. I'd love to use the tape decks, or at least one, to play cassettes sometimes. Is there any way to make these things play reasonably well? The design has this baffling setup where a spring-loaded peg scrapes against the back of the capstan flywheel on the left (play-only) deck. It's noisy and the playback is pretty... warbly.

I'm about to try de-belting the left deck, since I'm assuming the scraping also adds variable drag to the motor, causing some of the wow/flutter, but I'm wondering if anyone else has tried anything to get at least one deck performing well. (I think this applies to quite a few TRK-3D's)

    Cheers and thanks -

    Mike
