    Hello!

I found this forum while troubleshooting a Walkman Professional D6, which I had recently found unused in the box some old storage containers.

I was very excited to find this Walkman, as my girlfriend and I have been getting into cassettes/physical media lately, and thought it was a great find. However, just recently, it started playing back far too fast, and so I started searching for a possible solution.

At first I got worried that I had made a mistake in using 1.5v alkaline batteries as opposed to
1.2V NiMH rechargeable batteries, and had blown out the CX20084 chip that controls playback speed, as I had seen some discussion of chip blowout with the Walkman D6C. But, after finding Deb64's helpful comment that the D6 doesn't have this chip, and her post on how it could likely be repaired, I was relieved that I probably hadn't broken it beyond repair!

So, in any case, if anyone knows a good repair shop in Minneapolis, or folks who could repair it, do let me know! If not, I just thought I would make an account/post, as this forum has been very helpful to me in orienting me towards the right path in getting it fixed.

    Best,
