Hello, it’s me introducing myself, just because. Electronics design engineer for 45yrs. Now playing with cassette, CD players from 70s,80s and 90s…
Welcome to the forum! I feel like most of us really like the old-school way of mixing and matching equipment, endless cable plug-ins and speaker wire upgrades. A/V has gotten too easy but vintage brings us back to when there was a little bit of a battle to get everything working but when it does, it's magic.
I spend hours fixing and perfecting… I get a kick out of seeing something that’s 45yrs old brought back to life, making it look like new again… Keeps me from getting into trouble, haha !
I amassed a pretty large collection of audio 20 years ago, even two skids of speakers, and when I had more time, I'd mix and match components for better sound. One thing I did figure out early is MP3's sounded better on mid-level equipment, you could really hear the imperfections on better stuff. Personally I love just playing music on equipment and thinking of the old days when this was a hobby for almost all my friends and music was always a part of the conversation. Nowadays people only talk about the big stadium concerts and I stay away from those, unless I'm up front, I don't have much fun at them.
