I finally got around to replacing the belts on that JVC KD-D2 I found: wooh!

It seems, in doing so, I broke something else! (lol)

Now, there is a whirring sound on playback, that persists when I press "pause": I've attached a video here. does anyone have an idea as to what this might be?

Also, if anyone has any advice on anything else I should look for when I open it back up, I would appreciate it as well: I've cleaned the head and idler tire with isopropyl alcohol, but am unsure if there is anything else I should clean in the meantime.

I got this cheap deck so I could learn the basics without worrying too much if I broke something, and what better way to learn, than by fixing what you broke? :smileycool:

Thank you for helping a newbie learn a bit about how these things work!

I feel like pause just releases belt tension but the motor keeps spinning. I wonder if maybe a tiny plastic washer might have fallen off causing the pulley to scrap on something, it sounds like too much contact with something coming off the motor shaft. Does it play ok? I'm wondering if you need some lube on the motor shaft.
