I used to hang out in the Walkman Section with AO so I know your not talking about him but I remember a lot of turmoil in the mid-2000's in the boombox threads.

You never know what you'll find digging through the old microfilm, check out these classics from 1978, JVC had some beauties, they always looked more hi-tech then the others.

Early digital, I'm sure that was impressive when it showed up, it was also the end of big 1/8" (and 1/4") extruded front panels. I've got more Technics with this style just because they were super-popular over here, I don't think think I have a single JVC Amp or Reciever, I saw one once but bitched about the $35 USD tag when most were $24.99. I'm kicking myself now.

JVC CD-1635 from 1976, is this their first "field recorder?" I remember doing wear tests like this, taking high magnification photos of the head and looking for wear marks or if we were doing cleaning tape, we'd use the unit for a few weeks, take before photos, then run through cleaning tape and take after photos.

Yep, I love the JVC Field Recorders, from 1977. The KD-2B looks small in most ads but here's a better photo of it showing how large it is.
