Alex Chernyak recently uploaded this classic brochure to archive.org, this is one of my favorite years, I'm embarassed to say how many of these I own. This doesn't have a lot but it does show some cool accessories I'll have to keep an eye out for.

The early days of Japanese Consumer Products were flooded with this kind of stuff, cheap, colorful but high fun portable audio. In the late 60's they got away from square tiny portable transistor radios and big rectangle table radios and came up with these cool gadgets. Portable transistor radios were usually carried around by grandpa with the earphone plugged in, it seemed back then that AM radio had baseball 24 hours a day.

I've got a handful of audio like this including a JVC Portable TT/Cassette/Radio that even though it was built to a low price-point, today it's all still there and working fine. Of course most of the colorful stuff is highly collectable just for industrial design decoration alone.

I've also got a larger AIWA Portable TT, everything in that looks hand built, even the circuit boards. These manufacturers were trying new things and embracing new construction materials, sure there's some duds but some of it is cutting edge for the time.

I've seen that big JVC, it's been floating around the internet for a while now, I've got a similar Hitachi Lo-D but now that I have another tape deck, I have two .

Found over on the Buck Tick Zone Fan Website. Buck Tick heavily endorsed Victor Boomboxes in the mid-80's in Japan.

JVC S1 and S5, the handle looks bent! It's looks like a "hot" set? These little guys were big money and beautiful little machines, strangely the stereo S5 seemed to be sold more with the corded battery pack and you had to pay extra to get the battery compartment, it was a very odd set-up for power.

    great these Victor products

know that the quality and care given to these local products (Japan) have a higher rigor than that sent to Europe/America and other continents

I have already seen several photos of the interior of these products..

sure and certain that the sound is of great quality as well as the cassette copies!!!

    magnificent
