Mini Stereos and Cool Car Compo Ads

That last car stereo is really nice looking, I love how the buttons are similar to the display screen. DAT in a mini stereo? Good luck finding that for sale, I bet it was big money back then and AIWA was still using upper case for the logo/name.

Good to know about the fans Longman, I have a few late-80's on systems that have fans, I was always amazed at how quiet they were. I used to have a vintage hair dryer, it was similar, very smooth and quiet, not like anything today.

 

Astrosonix from 1975, I've never heard of this brand but check out the "Digital Clock!" Having a clock in the car was kind of a big deal back then.

E.S.C. pops up once in a while with world-wide sales but company info is scarce. This is about as 80's as it gets, you could take off the branding and it looks like a 100 other systems from this time.

The only Sparkomatic I used to see was entry-level stuff, this doesn't look 1/2 bad for having very few features, from 1981. Anybody miss the days of red on red cars? I'm sure those vinyl seats were a million degrees on a sunny day.

A neat looking system from Bose 1981, did they make a car tape deck? Some of the Bose Equipment of this time was made at the same factory as Marantz!

Pioneer Mini-100 from 1980, a super-cool looking stereo from Pioneer, I have one of that series turntables but the rest is hard to find especially the Nagra inspired tape-deck.
