I don't think mini or midi stereos did as well in North America, everyone liked big stuff including cars and audio. I loved my little Spitfire but everyone thought it was so small. I'm pretty tall and that seat would go back really far so it was perfect. Since AIWA set up a factory just for mini-stereos in the UK, I have to believe that was their target market, over here they would have laughed at the tiny stereo.

I love that LL Cool J Tape, mine's older than dirt but fun to play, he was on fire around the time of that release. I don't recognize the RUN DMC Tape, which album is it? Back when I used to bootleg screen print t-shirts, RUN DMC was a big seller for me.

The RUN DMC album is Tougher than leather. I bought Radio on vinyl in the 80's but after a growing collection of ghettoblasters it was time to also buy the tape :). Only the M90 itself is missing. But that is a detail

Well the U.K. does have the smallest houses in Europe, and the also Japanese live in small properties so in both cases small equipment is appreciated.

Going a bit off topic, have a look at this

It is very rare to get a garage big enough to park a large car in these days. In fact many new houses seem to be being built with a "garage" that is only big enough for a few bikes and a lawnmover.

Over here the most dominate feature on new houses is the front protruding garage and it must be big enough for at least two large pick-up trucks, we only have full-size over here.

1965, so a few years older young man :) The photo shows some of my favorite hip hop albums but when i started buying hip hop vinyl in 1981-1982 it was almost always singles and maxi singles.

I have wondered what would have happened if CD hadn't taken over... at some point someone said that lasers could eventually be made to "read" vinyl! If that had ever happened, and with electric motor advancement, you could imagine very low profile slot-loading vinyl players.
