I just checked, mine is the RX-CT980, I thought I had another but it's a big ole Fisher, the shrinkwrap makes it difficult to make out features. I can't find any information on the RX-CT990?

I'll take your word, you know the equipment. I have a hard time with EQ's anyways, I need to get one of my more knowledgeable buddies to come over and show me what I'm doing wrong, usually I'm just running crappy old MP3's but it seems like there's no fixing them. With boomboxes I might move a slider or two for more vocals or bass but usually just leave them alone.

set the 100 hz slider to half and the sxbs on full......if the 100 hz slider is on full it cancels out the s xbs my friend....set the next one to minus 10, you can pretty much do what you want with the rest

it's a design flaw with these models and most make the same mistake lad

i bet you £20 you will now be impressed lol

Thank you, my friends!!! Until I get my own Lear-Jet I won't be able to take @Radio Raheem on his generous offer ;)........, but if I read @Reli info correct, you are in Norther California. I have to drive there once-in-a-while to visit the art dealer of my Boss (allois.com). If Telefunken is something rather compact, then I just Must Have it!!!!!!!! @Reli: PM me your ideas about an exchange: $$$ or if you have any interest in Discmans, I can get and fix just about any Discman you wish for the trade :)

What are the approximate dimensions of Telefunken Studio? I thought it is HUGE!!!

Jorge it's not too big. 25" long, 12" high.
If you come up, we'll arrange a boombox "meet" with another local collector whose collection is better than mine!
I sometimes go down to SoCal too. In fact about 10 collectors have been meeting in Venice every year. Not sure when the next one will be.

    Great!!! :) !!!

This I like about bboxes, as compared to Walkmans/Discmans: it is much more fun to have a meet around them

I doubt there will be a vaccine until Jan or Feb. And then only privileged people will get it first, like politicians and athletes, and medical workers of course. I don't believe the "average person" will get it until the summer, at best.

But that shouldn't discourage you from going anywhere. Just keep wearing a mask when you meet people. You go to stores and eat at restaurants, right? Going into someone's home is not any riskier. If it was, real estate sales would have dried up, but they've never been better.

Pfizer+Biontech vaccine will get emergency use authorization in one month, Moderna vaccine will follow in 6-8 weeks. In December vaccination will start with 20m dose of vaccine available for Certain groups. Astrazeneca vaccine got delayed in America but I think it will be ready by mid-January, Johnson and Johnson vaccine will be ready in spring 2021
Certain states will start the vaccination very quickly since they are already ready for the distribution of vaccine.

Now back to main topic, Please let me know your next Venice beach boombox gathering. I will pick up @Jorge to meet you guys there :boogie:.

You are more optimistic than I am! The FDA said yesterday that it wants vaccine developers to submit two months of safety data before applying for emergency approval.

Jorge likes the stereo equipment, maybe he can let us know if the Telefunken is the one. That is a small box, it's really close to the little AIWA CB-1. The photos add 15 lbs to it. I just got an email from our local airline, trips to CA are dirt cheap right now and we are very cold, close to 15 degrees below normal, I might try to head West for some R&R.

It sounds much better than the m90 Mr x i guess that is something in it's self.....Jorge will love it lads....the only problem with this, when you get into the top of the game 90% of radios aren't worth auditioning imho

I've never seen or heard an M90, but I have some other boombers that have been given good reviews in prior threads. I think the biggest thing I notice is the "plastic" sound, even the good ones have a distinct sound from the plastic cabinets, especially at higher volumes. I use them for daily radio listening but when I want to really crank it, I go to a component stereo. The boomers are great in smaller rooms and some do a great job in filling the room with clear audio, even the little ones can put in a good effort.

Those Panasonics are really cool, they are pretty rare around here but I'd love to find one.

Very True... But if you get a 'collector's gene' (as investigated in Collecting), then your fun never ends! :)

For no particular reason I just Had to buy and restore this twin-cassette Sharp:
    Sharp.jpg

I blame @Longman for this: once he learned about my predicament he sent Sharp GF-3700 my way. And pushed my preferences off National/Panas and JVC/Victor into uncharted territories ;););)

Beautiful and pretty cool design innovation with the stacked cassettes. They made a few different versions of that box but I never had heard of them before a few years ago.

Sadly these panasonics are only available in japan, im lucky though there is a seller in Germany selling them but there not cheap at 500 euro and thats after knocking 300 of the price...balls to it here is the auction lol, he is also selling the dt 8 which is supposed to be nearly as good

the price is crazy but there asking more for an m70 which miserably failed my sound tests

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Panasonic-RX-DT9-Ghettoblaster-EINE-ABSOLUTE-RARITÄT-IN-EUROPA/333748079689?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m2748.l2649

the m90 is superb but there are better radios, the m90 is my fave though had plenty in my life for over 20 years, im also a big fan of the jvc pc 55

Looking at the items he still has listed that is quite a collection he is selling.
The RX-DT901 is different from any Panasonic I have ever seen, being more like a 1990s Sony with the cloth covered speakers.
