This is from 1992. I guess it must refer to Panasonic actually having subsiduary / office in the UK since 1972, since Matsushita had been using the Panasonic brand name since 1955, and Technics since 1965.

I'd love to see some of the early branded Panasonic or Technics stuff. I've seen early 70's Technics, all of it says "Technics by Panasonic" on it but I don't know what they originally were putting out. Just Audio on YouTube has been putting out some interesting documentaries on some of the manufacturers but they tend to be woefully short and missing a ton of information. Considering how much the audio companies changed the world back then, it would be neat if someone invested more time into longer videos.

these type of adverts was what got me in as a kid .. pointing out features, whether I knew what it meant or not it didn’t matter … check it out, the more switches and dials the better.

I'm the same, I love the research before buying. How can you resist the model that has the numbers move and not the tuning dial?

I was looking up info for that cool little National RQ-JA100 someone posted above and found some great Jennifer Connelly Ads for National Panasonic and the Jump Series! They were still cranking out very high end portables in the mid-80's but most of these look lke they were JDM only. Price-wise, the most expensive is close to Sony D6 Pricing. Jennifer has had a long movie career and was recently in the new Top Gun Movie.
