Actually a catalogue page from 1984. Now we know how most people got their SL-N5 turntables.

In fact I remember a Stereo2Go member getting a similar Panasonic setup, complete with stand a few years ago.

Actually more expensive than a comparable Music Centre but much more versatile, with the RX-C39 able to run on batteries.

I'm surprised we didn't have more turntable & boombox specials over here, I don't think the thought ever crossed my mind to use the two together. By the time I was able to afford a boomer, the phono plugs had disappeared but I would have used it all day long.

I have just added two more similar systems to this thread
    http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/triple-take-it-on-the-run-baby.1564/page-3#post-61024

What makes the SL-N5 turntable a bit different from most is that it incorporates a switchable Phono-Preamp.

From Panasonic's point of view I guess it made sense to mix and match components to make different systems.
The SL-N5 also came bundled with their SG-14 Casseiver, although a more upmarket package swapped it for an SL-J3 Linear tracking turntable.

Smallest walkman, in 1982? No way. It looks thick as hell.

I think they mean the darker unit at the bottom of the page, I've got a Walkman II and the Panasonic RQ-KJ1 (bottom unit) next to each other on my desk and it is smaller........

I don't own the top model.

Panasonic 1981, so the riddle of the RQ-J33 has been answered in this ad, it's the large unit in the inset photo. It was meant for recording classes! I wonder what the price was compared with the RX-1950 (I just got one last week!), a model that could also record, but in stereo, it also has a radio. The only benefit I can imagine the RQ-J33 has is it must have been much less expensive.

Some late to the party Panasonic 8-Track Boomboxes from 1979. They must have thought there'd be interest with all of the old tapes floating around. People hated 8-track when I was a kid, cassette was the way to go!

Panasonic, just a massive marketing machine! From 1975 Mart Magazine aimed towards the retailers, slightly different wording from the same ad on the first page of this thread.
