Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and I'm relatively new to anything walkman, so I would greatly appreciate some advice. A couple of years ago, I got a beautiful WM-EX621 which I decided to try to fix up. I swapped the belts and cleaned everything with isopropyl alcohol, but that's pretty much where I hit a roadblock. I'm currently struggling with my next steps in repairing this thing. The wow and flutter is pretty bad and it gets worse when its playing its respective side (I have to put the tape in and use the auto flip feature to be able to listen to it without bad wow and flutter.) I'd really like to get this thing fixed up as I'd love to take it around and use it more than 3 feet away from a screwdriver. So does anyone have any tips for a complete newbie? Thanks so much!
if you got overall torque issues id put it in play and pinch the reel(s) with light pressure, if it starts struggling under very little pressure thats either a clutch issue or a belt thats not the correct size (id only trust fixyouraudio belts but i trust you can gauge whether its too big/small yourself) i think this player is one of the models that has clutch gear issues, id check it for damage/cracking. if its fine leave it be, id only go about replacing it if its visibly damaged find the source of the issue, go from there. not as familiar with 90s units so i cant say definitively heads or tails what your issue is. sounds like an overall problem with it so i dont believe rollers would be a big concern here just spitballing, know i dont have any firsthand experience on these specifically
