    Hi everyone,

I've lurked here for a while now, so thought it was time to sign up and introduce myself :)

As an electronic engineer in my day job I'm in awe of the quality and scale of some of these units, which simply wouldn't be made today.

I have had for a while a JVC RC-M70W (inherited when my grandmother was going to send it to the rubbish tip!) which I am considering selling. It is in good condition, complete with it's original instruction manual and power cable, and the radio works well. Any ideas of approx price to ask for it, please?

    Thanks,
    Colin

Hello Colin from another electronics engineer, who works in Hampshire but lives in Dorset.

The JVC M70 is a desirable but not uncommon box.

By far the best way to determine the going price is to look at the completed listings on Ebay e.g.

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JVC-RC-M...371188?hash=item3fc3a5ee34:g:CewAAOSwvhhc7ICo

There was only one sold in the UK recently which sold for £100 buy it now.

I am sure a few other people will ask why you aren't tempted to keep it for yourself.
I have been looking without success for a small Pye transistor radio like the one that was my Grandmother's pride and joy back in the early 1970s.

Welcome to the forum Colin! The M70 might be the model most closely resembling a roller coaster. The price on that one model might fluctuate several hundred dollars (pounds, euros, etc) in one week. It seems it had high production numbers and there's always a few for sale. I like to follow the auctions, there's a lot of buy it now boomboxes going for silly money, but when they're thrown out for open bidding they tend to go for more reasonable amounts, you can usually divide by 10 the highest BIN pricing to get that more reasonable number.

If my grandmother gave me an M70, I'd keep it forever, although I've never sold a box, and use it proudly. It's a great radio to have and will only go up in value.

Yes, "Buy it Nows" that didn't sell are meaningless. The ones like this that did sell like this (which doesn't look to be in very good condition) give a good indication of what people are prepared to pay for an M70.

The next question is how much more will people pay for a nice one ?
