Hello everyone, I was going straight to eBay till I found this forum and wondered if the following may be of interest to someone. I found a Binatone combi in the loft, a black and white tv with a tape deck and radio. Not seen another one and it looks quite funky. TV turn on and radio works but not got a cassette to check. Any info on it would also be great, looking to list early in Jan. Many thanks,
Welcome Shonagh. As you might know Binatone was mainly an importer of far Eastern made electronics with their name stuck on them. They are still around, mainly selling cordless telephones. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binatone I wouldn't surprise me if there was an AKA of this sold in a different country as a different brand.
Seems no one likes it lol, open to any offers, was working fine till put in loft so suspect belts have perished.
Welcome to the forum Shonagh. I've been dabbling in transmitting TV signal with a Blonder-Tongue Transmitter that can be bought used and cheap on ebay. While your model is lower end there might be interest from a display company or even a restaurant or bar. I can broadcast anything and it looks pretty cool on these retro sets, I could see a retro bar having a few old sets on the ceiling playing the big game or some MTV videos.
Here's Phil's Old Radio Website describing the process, and it's been recently updated. https://antiqueradio.org/HomeTVTransmitter.htm ....and my thread http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/finally-tv-on-the-radio.3389/ If you have one of these "paperweights" you can make it cool again, like I said above, these would be great for an entrepreneur and a vision, some of the old portable tv's were state of the art builds when new and still look amazing after close to 40 years.
