Walking past a charity shop 2 days ago, I popped in to see if they had anything interesting. I found a Matt Bianco - Indigo album, in very good to Mint condition for £1.99. I picked it up as I only had it on cassette. When I got home I put it through the record cleaner like I do with everything I buy new or second-hand. Then put it into new sleeves, it's in mint condition and sounds fantastic. Listening to it, it's a good 80's recording love the way the sound is projected well past the left and right of the speakers. Matt Bianco - Indigo
My first record playing of the year, although last year I bought far more LPs than I played. Since I don't have a deck permanently set up I used last years Christmas present an Anabus GP-N3R. They beat Audio Technica to market in producing an improved retro inspired deck. The LP is the type that I keep finding in Charity shops which were probably never released on CD. Easy listening in the style of James Last and perfect for Muzak. Surprisingly it doesn't have a Discogs entry although reading the small print it is a K-Tel release from 1978. In great condition I wonder when it was last played. Maybe back in the 70s.
December 18th 2023 I was on my way to Rome for work for a week before Christmas. While on the train to the airport a gentleman walked in carrying a very large musical instrument case, we got chatting. I asked him what the instrument was, it turned out to be a double bass. He said he was a musician and played in a Jazz trio. He was on his way home to Denmark but was back to UK in January for a gig, I took his detail plus details of the venue and the date of the gig. Anyway, come Jan 11th 2024, I decided to go. It was a small venue not sitting more than say 100 – 120 people I would guess, I love small venues as you can get close to the artists. I really enjoyed the gig and managed to pick up a record after the show. If any of you guys are into Jazz, they are worth checking out. Jasper Hoiby was the guy I met on the train and his website is www.jasperhoiby.com Jasper Høiby - What It Means To Be Human
I think it’s a re-issue, the original came out in 1997 this one is from 1999 on Source label. It sounds good, but then I have not heard the original 1997 release.
