I am a Canadian, who, like most Canadians, lives near the US border. I purchase Aiwa vintage portable cassette players from Americans on eBay, and have them delivered to a dropoff just across the border in the US. Where I pick them up and pay a small fee for the service. This is faster and cheaper than having them delivered into Canada, which can cost a lot and be very awkward. Due to the policies of the current US government, I will not buy these items from the US. The risk of being detained is too high, and the $250 fee to enter the US is obviously ridiculous. I will buy them from Japan instead. Given how few buyers of these items are in Canada rather than the US, this will only hurt US sellers a bit by lowering demand and driving down prices. The drop shipment businesses just across the border in the US have seen their traffic almost stop. So it goes.
