Some more goodies from 1985, pricing in USD. A rare siting of a Fisher Keyboard Boombox, unfortunately Fisher had such a crappy reputation from it's all-in-one stereo racks.

Sharp Boomboxes from 1985, AUD. The top recorder is interesting, I'm not sure who was buying those at the time.

Some neat Sanyo's from 1981, price is AUD. I've got an M7900 and M6400, both are very high quality builds, they fit into the mini-boombox catagory.

Radio Shack Modulaire 850 from 1987, price is AUD. It can record at 1/2 the normal speed, I wonder how much better that makes the sonics.

I don't remember ever seeing product manuals over here but English Versions are around. I think the Japanese had to print pricing on their ads because they all have it. As far as I know, that's the set price, over here our electronics stores would heavily discount.

Example, store buys JVC RC-XXXX at $100 USD, puts on floor at $200 USD but then has "BIG SALE" and marks that down 30% for a $140 USD sale price. Different countries have different ways of doing business and I'm not familar with most of them.

Here are some really old Sony prices from 1974.
    Dixons 1974_Sony.jpg
In the U.K. people hate haggling but love a bargain and have been known to queue up for days to get one in the January sales.
    https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/boxing-day-sales-shoppers-queue-2960045
Dixons, whose catalogue this is from, kept getting in trouble for misleading "sale" prices
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4576311.stm
I recall when "sale" adverts always stated in the small print how long the item had been sold for at the previous price.

A Sanyo Radio Cassette was about £40. Either was just over a weeks wages for a full time manual male worker and nearly two weeks wages for a woman. I have commented before that they were the sort of thing a lucky person (like a student on teaching practice, who was working for my Mother) got for their 21st Birthday.

The actual price was £13.97 but they are probably right that an equivalent from Sony or National Panasonic would have been £42. Russian made products like these and Lada cars were popular with people after a bargain here in the U.K. in the 1970s. I am sure they would have been far less affordable in the USSR. @CDV might know.
Here is a webpage about a later model.
