My father always listened to the wireless and I listened with him too. Then later my mother bought me a little Benkson transistor radio. I think that was the beginning of my love for music making equipment.

Sony SRF-70W from 1983, $119.00 USD was big money back then and this was just for the radio. Wakefield's was in Utah.

Some more Sony From Wakefields, they must have had a nice display area. The CFM-15 looks like a nice little model, I haven't seen one up close before.

Some General Electric Boomboxes from 1982, the bottom one looks like a Sanyo but there's no Model number with it.

There aren't many AIWA Ads but here's on for two very nice models from 1982, the HS-P02 and the HS-J02. They're called the "Hipster" here but I never see that printed on my models.

This was more my budget but at $3.75 an hour it took me a few weeks to save up for one. Some Panasonic Portables from 1986

Some AIWAs from 1984, I would have never guessed the SC-A5 Speakers were that much. Camera shops never seemed to discount like the electronics stores.
