1993 and this (un Lucky) Goldstar seems quite expensive compared to the own Brand alternatives.
There again a remote was still a luxury feature back then.

I have three of the Shortwave Radios in that advert.
ICF-7600DS .... bought new around that time
ICF SW1E .... bought much later used
ICF 2001D ... actually I have two both bought used. A beat up one and one mint in box

Back to the thread subject a Tandy (Radio Shack) advert from 1989.
Something for everyone in this one although that little TV was expensive.
Twenty years later you could get similar sets brand new for £10 !

Some of those tiny square TV's are really neat, not many survived though.

Thanks for sharing, beautiful bombox! In the early days of the forum there weren't a lot of upstairs members (the boomboxes have always been on top) that liked pre-80's boomboxes, sure they could have used some design refinement but they are packed with cool little features.

Seeing those two together makes me think a TOTL (top of the line) models through the years with the individual brands. You'd almost have to divide between mini, midi and full-size, I don't think it's fair to exclude the smaller ones because some are just as beautiful and packed with electronics.

If I was doing wikiboombox, I'd add in TOTL after the model number.

Very few audio adverts recently as it's summer. The Newspaper archive I use shows copies of the Daily Mirror from today's date from random years between the late 1970s and 1999. This ad from 1992 did appear amongst some Washing Machines and Camcorders
    1992 Panasonic CD.jpg

Come December I know that every other advert will be suggesting Audio gear or media as "The perfect Christmas gift".

Those were so expensive, I refused to get an egg back then, just not cool.

September and the holiday adverts have gone back to retail goods.
Dixons (a large high street chain selling electronics and cameras) in 1990
The Radiola further up the page is here in its Philips guise.
