The audio store I worked in ('75-'78) sold Sanyo equipment. I custom-installed a Sanyo FT-1490 Bi-amplified Cassette deck in my new 1978 Toyota Corolla SR5 Liftback. I cut out the area of the dash that would have housed the Fujitsu stereo radio and a dealer-installed cassette deck and put in a rosewood panel as surround with the Sanyo stereo installed. I used a pair of ADS L100c speakers modified so the tweeters and woofers were driven directly by the 1490. It was an awesome system. When I bought a 1979 Toyota SR5 Short Bed pickup, I purchased a Sanyo FT-1405 Bi-amplified AM/FM Cassette under dash unit and used the ADS L200c speakers in it.
Both systems were phenomenal sounding systems. Sure wish I would have hung onto the two units; I still have the speakers.

Those were good times finding and installing a tape deck. I always loved the stupid little EQ's with the light show, most of mine were aftermarket but I still had fun with them.
