Welele from PT! Came here cause I am searching for a radio with front AUX that has a classic professional look, not Rounded buttons or 2000's frutiberg style... An.. I dont even know what *****hole, burned my van to the ground and I am now searching for a similar radio for my new car. The old radio was PHILIPS 941 (??? can't find a pic of it on the internets so my guess is as good as yours, I am reciting the number I have memorized but it was a Philips 9XX for sure) Cool thing about this stereo was: Cool design - It was really early 80s design at its peak, simple geometric shapes, no curves no unnecessary bamboozles Awesome single push-pull Tone Fade Volume knob with the little lever behind the knob for Balance.. TRY BEATING THIS! And on its right there was a second double function knob that was like high end and low end frequency adjustment thing. AUX jack on front panel from factory with a nice AUX/Tape/Radio button I need to find something similar! Here is a SIMILAR ( Philips 640 ) option I have cheap but far away, still thinking of getting it: This one detaches on the head and has got a slight curve so I guess it is a bit more modern. Still the placement of the screen, the tapedeck opening and buttos + AUX location have the same placement. Also this one has the DOLBY NOISE REDUCTION BUTTON which makes me think its a bit more modern. Please give me some models of other radios that are from that era just before detachable front panels and round knobs and have AUX inputs. Thanks!
I moved the thread, we don't really have a car deck area and I can't make new forum subjects. Those Blaupunkt Ashtrays are nice! I think I have a swag thread around here somewhere, they would fit in perfectly. Car stereos are tough but they are slowly becoming collectable and some of the better ones are popping up for sale. I have no idea when they started putting AUX in on the front, I'm guessing portable CD players started it. Elitist pops in once in a while, he knows a ton about car decks and might be able to give you some options.
